Mr.
Buz Massengale, FAA’s FAASTEAM Program Manager
presented the rare and prestigious “Wright Brothers
Master Pilot Award” to Capt. Thomas E. Davis
(ret.) of Crystal Aero Group, Inc. This award recognizes
pilots who have contributed to building and maintaining
the safest aviation system in the world, through practicing
and promoting safe flight for 50 consecutive years
or more and who have exhibited professionalism, skill
and aviation expertise. As of August 16th, 2007, Tom
has been flying for 62 years and all of his certificates
are still current and he is still active as Pilot
Examiner and Flight Instructor.
The event, which also celebrated Tom's 80th birthday,
took place on Saturday, August 4th, 2007 at the Crystal
River Airport. The ceremony was preceded by the annual
Bomb Drop competition and Student of the Year Award
presentation. Lunch was catered by "Croft BBQ"
and was sponsored by The Hiller Group and Crystal
Aero Group.
