Mr. Buz Massengale, FAA’s FAASTEAM Program Manager presented the rare and prestigious “Wright Brothers Master Pilot Award” to Capt. Thomas E. Davis (ret.) of Crystal Aero Group, Inc. This award recognizes pilots who have contributed to building and maintaining the safest aviation system in the world, through practicing and promoting safe flight for 50 consecutive years or more and who have exhibited professionalism, skill and aviation expertise. As of August 16th, 2007, Tom has been flying for 62 years and all of his certificates are still current and he is still active as Pilot Examiner and Flight Instructor.

The event, which also celebrated Tom's 80th birthday, took place on Saturday, August 4th, 2007 at the Crystal River Airport. The ceremony was preceded by the annual Bomb Drop competition and Student of the Year Award presentation. Lunch was catered by "Croft BBQ" and was sponsored by The Hiller Group and Crystal Aero Group.
