Greetings
again, fellow aviators, and Happy 2008!
2007 was another successful year for the Citrus Aviation
Association. Once again, we had some really interesting
guest speakers at our monthly meetings. We actively
supported the Crystal River Airport Master Plan update,
which was ultimately approved by the County Commission.
And, of course, we did our fair share of socializing!
From informal get-togethers to our annual Fall Picnic
and the Holiday Party, we had lots of fun. There is
an excellent crew on board this year to assist with
planning events as well as take care of regular business,
so 2008 should be even better than 2007.
With 3 County Commission seats up for election this
year, we must not be lazy about letting the candidates
know how important both our county's Community Airports
are. The results of this year's election could, essentially,
make or break what happens at the airports over the
next 4 years or so.

While
we are not primarily a political organization, the
area's political climate requires that we be vigilant
in protecting our airports and ensuring that the Master
Plan is fulfilled as much as possible.
Already on tap for upcoming meetings are: an FAA Safety
Counselor presentation on Safety at Non-Towered Airports,
a Civil Air Patrol presentation and a slide show of
the 2007 Crystal River Airport Economic Impact Study.
Several other great speakers are lined up to tell
us of their flying experiences, ranging from military
history to commercial flight. I know we have a couple
of fly-outs planned, some land-based meals and some
other really fun events to look forward to. Please
check the calendar regularly to see what's new, and
we hope to see you around!
