Speaker Col. Roy Reid (ret.), told his story
of getting shot down at Pearl Harbor
Fifteen
hours out of California, their B-17 became the first
US airplane downed by the enemy during World War II
Roy
Reid's eye-witness Pearl Harbor story as he experienced
it from the air... Lt. Reid was in the cockpit of
a B-17C as it "routinely" approached Pearl
Harbor on December 7th 1941 and was shot down. Ernest
L. "Roy" Reid was a 2nd lieutenant in the
US Army Air Forces on December 7, 1941, and flew 49
combat missions throughout the Pacific theater in
World War II.


The
January meeting had a full house to hear guest speaker
Col. Roy Reid (ret.) tell his story about being in
the first aircraft to be shot down at Pearl Harbor
in WWII. CAA President Meredith Kupcho presents Mr.
Reid with a Certificate of Appreciation.
